Bitrue Marks the Third Exchange Listing for Ergo in 2022


Bitrue Exchange Officially Lists Ergo


With the introduction of Babel fees on Ergo, users can now pay for transaction fees without $ERG. Simply put, Babel fees now allow a wallet to use native assets to pay transaction fees. This new technology greatly increases accessibility on Ergo, as some users may have several wallets where they only hold NFTs or other native Ergo assets. In those scenarios, those wallets would have had to procure $ERG in order to commit a transaction on the network. Going forward, a user can use the native assets they hold in a wallet to complete a transaction (as long as Babel Fee Bank Box).

The Ergo Foundation is pleased to announce that users can now use Babel fees to pay for transactions on the blockchain. This important update significantly increases efficiency for performing transitions on the network.


Ergo Platform Enables Babel Fees


As we finish ErgoHack V and prepare for the upcoming Ergo Summit on November 26th, Ergo continues to march ahead, building and designing a Layer 1 blockchain for the future. Mass adoption is an ever present discussion in cryptocurrency circles, and the Ergo Foundation is working hard to promote the blockchain and its technology in line with the Ergo Manifesto. As we look at the second installment of Ergo’s Roadmap, we will highlight exchange listings and an improvement to the oracle pools. 

## Exchange Listings

Exchange listings are a topic that is frequently discussed by the community. They are vital to a project’s growth and success, and they promote accessibility to the casual investor. Currently, some of the most recognized exchanges that ERG is listed on are: Kucoin, Gate.io, Coinex, Hotbit, Tradeogre and Indodax. A major milestone for Ergo was reached earlier this year when the Ergo Foundation announced that the Tier-1 exchange, Huobi Global, would also be listing the ERG token.

During AMA events, the Ergo Foundation is often asked if additional exchanges are in the pipeline. Tier-1 exchanges will continue to be a priority for the Ergo Foundation. However, getting Ergo listed is much more complicated than a desire to have the token available on an exchange. Ergo is a truly unique Layer 1 blockchain. As an eUTXO model chain, new exchanges have to initially utilize significant software resources to properly integrate Ergo into their exchange platform. Numerous tokens that tend to be quickly listed are often ERC-20 tokens, or they are based off an already existing Layer 1 blockchain. Even Cardano’s eUTXO model differs from Ergo, so this is why it takes time and resources to properly integrate Ergo into new exchanges. That being said, community members can be assured that future Tier-1 exchange listings are a priority and the Ergo Foundation will continue to work hard to pursue new exchanges. 

## Oracles V2

Ergo offers pools of oracles that act to decentralize the provision of data, ensuring that both the process and the data itself are more reliable. The group of oracles within the pool agree on the data sources and each post their data points to the blockchain. This increases the reliability and validity of the data. At the end of an epoch, these data points are averaged, after removing outliers, in a final transaction which reads each data point. This results in the oracle pool producing a new finalized datapoint. 
	
Ergo is currently developing [oracle pools V2](https://ergoplatform.org/en/blog/2020-08-31-ergos-oracle-pools-and-what-they-mean-for-the-ecosystem/) which will provide improvements upon the existing technology. Oracle pools V2 differs from V1 in a variety of ways. For starters, there is a [single pool address](https://github.com/ergoplatform/eips/blob/3efd0c6d6fd72b640dcda3a256aba729d1d26679/eip-0022.md) on V2. On Github, the Ergo team goes into more detail by stating that, “Data-point boxes will be considered as inputs rather than data-inputs. These inputs will be spent, and a copy of the box with the reward will be created. [The] Rewards [will be] in tokens, not Ergs. The posting reward will be in the form of tokens, which can be redeemed separately. Reward[s] accumulated in data point boxes to prevent dust. We will not be creating a new box for rewarding each posting. Instead, the rewards will be accumulated in data-point boxes.” These methods will increase the oracle pools’ efficiency mainly through introducing a token, removing some bloat boxes/data-inputs and replacing them with simpler methods.

The Ergo Roadmap: What’s Next Part #2


Since the mainnet launch of Ergo on July 1, 2019, the blockchain has reached many important milestones. In just the last year, Ergo has successfully implemented [EIP-27](https://ergoplatform.org/en/blog/A-New-Era-for-Ergo-EIP-27-Begins-Today/), and witnessed extensive improvements for existing wallets, a significant increase in the number of dApps in the ecosystem, the first DEX, NFT marketplaces, new developer tooling, progress in research development and much more. The Ergo team has been especially busy from a developer standpoint, accomplishing [5811 developer commits](https://twitter.com/ergoplatformorg/status/1542643911960973312). 

Although Ergo’s progress has been extensive thus far, the next year and beyond will unveil plans to continually position Ergo as one of the top technology-focused blockchains in the industry. It is important to note that future features are not only being developed by the Ergo core team, but also by various projects building on top of the Ergo blockchain. In fact, many of those builders are alumni of Ergo’s incredibly successful ErgoHack hackathons (see the [ErgoHack website](https://ergohack.io/) for details on the upcoming ErgoHack V: Mining and Minting). Over the next couple of weeks, we will highlight various parts of the roadmap in these articles. We will begin our discussion today with a look at Spectrum and DexyUSD.

## Spectrum on Ada

Spectrum (formerly known as ErgoDEX) has launched a decentralized exchange on top of the Ergo blockchain known for its fast, seamless and easy-to-use user interface. It is currently operational and fully functional on the Ergo blockchain, however, Spectrum is set to release an important update that will enable the dApp to be a cross-chain DEX on both the Ergo and Cardano networks. Spectrum is currently on the Cardano testnet and is scheduled to deploy on the mainnet as soon as the Vasil hard fork combinator goes live. On the Ergo network, Spectrum provides ERG swaps with a variety of native tokens on the Ergo blockchain. ## DexyUSD

The need to continually innovate, improve and evolve blockchain technology on Ergo is an identifying feature of the blockchain. There is already an algorithmic stablecoin live on Ergo (SigUSD) which is crypto-backed and overcollateralized, and has never lost its peg throughout extreme market volatility. Ergo’s founder, Alexander Chepurnoy, along with Scalahub and community members are currently working on implementing another stablecoin, called DexyUSD. DexyUSD is an algorithmic stablecoin with various features that will continue to improve on the success of SigUSD. For instance, DexyUSD will not have any governance or external reserves. [In a recent video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jg5IzoqhChI&ab_channel=ErgoPlatform), Chepurnoy explains in depth, stating that “there are no external reserves . . . external reserves are always about centralized protocols” (Time index 2:55-3:15).

Delving deeper into DexyUSD’s design, Alex Chepurnoy highlights three prominent features in his video. The design components consist of oracles, liquidity pools and an algorithmic bank. The oracle will act as a trusted data point in targeting the price of ERG/stablecoin from a variety of external markets. The oracle will provide the information regarding the price of ERG so that DexyUSD keeps its peg. The algorithmic bank also showcases some unique features that will ensure DexyUSD’s reliability and validity. Chepurnoy states that the algorithmic bank has two primary goals. These goals are “to provide liquidity by minting stablecoins in exchange for ERG, using [the] oracle’s price,” while ensuring “stability in the liquidity pool by injecting ERGs when needed” (Time index 4:45-5:48). The algorithmic bank also takes actions to protect DexyUSD’s peg by charging a fee for minting, thereby preventing the oracle from front-running and building up reserves. Chepurnoy also states that an additional feature of DexyUSD is that “if [the] exchange rate differs from [the] oracle’s for enough time, which means interventions did not succeed, [it] burns stablecoins in the pool to get the price back to normal” (Time index 11:45-12:10). The burning mechanism is designed to guarantee the stabilization of DexyUSD, however it can have a negative effect for those who provide liquidity. Chepurnoy states that they try to avoid burning the stablecoin by first burning reserves in the case of a catastrophic event. The bank and liquidity pool charges fees to build its reserves up which allows the burning of reserves to take place rather than burning the stablecoin initially. The Ergo Roadmap: What’s Next. Part #1


For those of you who have been using the Ergo Mobile Wallet to store ERG tokens and native assets, you will no doubt have been using the Beta version of the app that was made available through Test Flight on the iOS App Store. Accessing the app through Test Flight created a scenario where many often questioned why it was not available through the regular Apple iOS App Store? Although the app had been completed (by MrStahlfelge) and audited by Ergo developers, there had been some roadblocks with getting the wallet formerly listed on the Apple iOS App Store.

These roadblocks have been resolved and Ergonauts can now download this popular wallet directly from the Apple iOS App Store. As part of the process of getting this app listed on the App Store, the Ergo Mobile Wallet is now called Terminus Wallet. For those of you with Android devices, the wallet can still be found on the Play Store as Ergo Mobile Wallet.

There has been some very exciting news this week in terms of Ergo wallets. Not only was Ergo support added to Zelcore Wallet, but the Ergo Mobile Wallet has been officially listed on the Apple iOS App Store.

This listing marks an important step in the Ergo Foundation’s work to promote the Ergo Platform. The Huobi listing also greatly increases access to the ERG token, including to Huobi’s already extensive customer base.

For many months now, the Ergo community has been waiting with excitement and anticipation for news on a Tier 1 exchange listing. As of today, the Ergo Foundation is pleased to announce that Huobi cryptocurrency exchange has officially listed Ergo for trading. Per their announcement, Huobi will launch Ergo on their exchange with the following schedule:

The team behind Flux have been strong collaborators with Ergo, and they are currently implementing Ergo as the next [Flux Parallel Asset](https://medium.zelcore.io/parallel-assets-flux-and-zelcore-the-perfect-trio-4dda186ced37?gi=9863344d6438). When creating a Flux Parallel Asset, Flux tokens can be swapped for a “parallel asset” that will allow it to exist on a different blockchain. In this case, Flux tokens can be swapped to operate on the Ergo blockchain.

The Ergo Foundation is pleased to announce that there is a new wallet option available for use in the Ergo ecosystem. Zelcore wallet, the popular wallet designed for Flux, has added support for the Ergo token ($ERG). With this news, Ergonauts can now use Zelcore to interact with Ergo dApps and markets (such as NFT markets, Spectrum, ErgoPad and much more), as well as swap $FLUX and $ERG via the wallet’s Fusion feature.

> Note that Ergo outperforms Bitcoin forks with extended features (Bitcoin Cash, Ravencoin etc). The protocol client is becoming more stable and feature-rich with each release, basic infrastructure is improving.  Now time to go forward! 
 * Research on different **scalability** proposals for Bitcoin, Cardano, Ethereum, such as sidechains (which are also nice for testing new features), commit-chains, rollups, isomorphic state channels, FairSwap etc. For some solutions for Bitcoin new opcodes are needed (so a little chance to see things in the real-world), while Ergo allows for such constructions without forks. 
* **Ergo is going to be not just a chain, but a king of chains (which will improve the crypto-economic security of the protocol as miners will get additional rewards from sidechains).** 
 * On **performance** of the network, the reference protocol client (Ergo node) is getting different performance improvements in the P2P layer.
 * Quick bootstrapping without compromising security using  UTXO set snapshot and NiPoPoWs are in progress
 * The **5.0 soft-fork** is going to be proposed to miners soon, the main change is about switching to just-in-time-costing in ErgoTree evaluation which will provide a  5-6x boost in scripts processing (on real blockchain data)
 * It's now time to consider the **long-term crypto-economic security of the protocol**, discussions already started [here](https://www.ergoforum.org/t/ergo-emission-details-retargeting-via-a-soft-fork/2778/7)

Roadmap

By popular demand through a vote on their Discord server, Conceal Network (CCX) is building a bridge to Ergo! This bridge will bring the wCCX token, which is 1:1 swappable with CCX, to the Ergo blockchain and the ERG token to Conceal Network. Privacy-oriented projects are essential and more tools focusing on these projects are needed as we continue towards increased adoption.



In the future, this partnership hopes to collaborate on bringing Ethereum Virtual Machine EVM capabilities to ERG, privacy gateways, trustless swaps using HTLC, and of course, a shared focus on Layer-2 UTXO research. 



Conceal Network is a community-driven decentralized blockchain, free from financial institutions’ involvement and powered by 100% open-source code. It is accessible to anyone in the world regardless of their geographic location or status. 

With this overlap of ideals, a collaboration between Ergo and Conceal Network should come as no surprise. 

Conceal Networks native coin (₡CCX) is based on the Cryptonote protocol and runs on a secure peer-to-peer network technology that operates without a central authority. You control the private keys to your funds.

# The UTXO Alliance

The [utxo-alliance.org](https://utxo-alliance.org/) is an initiative created to kickstart collaboration with individuals and organisations to make the UTXO model more scalable, secure, and interoperable.

Formed between Cardano, Input-Output Global, Ergo Platform, Nervos, and Topl, this alliance will define the future of scalability, programmability, and interoperability.

UTXO has many advantages over the account-based model used by Ethereum. It provides superior:

* Privacy, as UTXOs are one-time objects making it possible to formalise privacy leaks.
* Scalability, as parallel transaction processing is more straightforward. UTXOs are also more friendly to known stateless client solutions.
* Interoperability, as off-chain and sidechain protocols. One-time objects are simpler to work with from an off-chain point of view.
* Transaction Cost Predictability, where the only on-chain action is validating the smart contracts. As a result, the transaction cost is significantly lower and most importantly, the transaction cost is predictable, eliminating the need for ‘gas.’

At the heart of the UTXO Alliance lies the commitment to solve instrumental questions around how data is transferred between different blockchain environments - the amount of data used, the speed with which data is processed, transaction costs, and energy usage.

Solving these questions will ensure that anyone can safely share digital assets, such as coins, tokens, data, and smart contracts across different blockchains. To achieve this goal, alliance members have a commitment to promote participation, expand use cases, and both educate and inspire mainstream users.

Each of the Founding members has specific strengths and unique tooling that they bring to the UTXO Alliance.

# Ergo and eUTXO

[Extended UTXO](https://iohk.io/en/research/library/papers/the-extended-utxo-model/) systems enable [Turing complete](https://arxiv.org/abs/1806.10116) smart contracts. This novel innovation allows us to reclaim the original model that Bitcoin used but with a lot more power.

The Extended UTXO Model (eUTXO) preserves Bitcoin’s structure while adding support for more expressive smart contracts and native assets. Ergo has a similar approach to Cardano’s eUTXO with its own Multi-Stage UTXO model that introduces UTXO chains. 

Multi-Stage Contracts provide an extension to Bitcoin’s UTXO model to facilitate any complex smart contract. Ergo has implemented read-only inputs that allow any unspent output to be used as a read-only input in a transaction. Its Proof of Work consensus algorithm is compatible with the state-of-the-art NiPoPoWs, allowing trustless light mobile nodes, non-interactive parallel computations, and seamless cross-chain interoperability. In the coming months, Cardano plans to add data inputs with a hard fork, making the Oracle Pool design outlined below interoperable.

Ergo’s Sigma Protocols, combined with an extended approach to the UTXO ledger model, with read-only inputs and a Turing complete enriched context, can provide near-infinite scalability with robust privacy and security features. Zero-knowledge applications such as collective spending vaults on Ergo’s UTXO are more efficient than a shared mutable state like Ethereum’s.

Ergo is always willing to work with like-minded projects to advance technology for the benefit of ordinary people. We believe in partnership, rather than division, in the blockchain industry. Working together will only accelerate the development and use of the tools we are building.

Ergo has previously partnered with Emurgo (a founding partner of Cardano) in its efforts to explore and develop commercial opportunities. From this partnership, we saw integration into the Yoroi wallet and a new design for Oracles. 

The design of Ergo’s oracle pools is more efficient and programmable than using multiple single oracle data points, such as in Chainlink’s oracle design. We build hierarchies of confidence using oracle pools and pools of oracle pools in Ergo. It’s faster, cheaper, and more beneficial to the end-user.

# SigmaUSD

Ergo has previously worked alongside Emurgo and IOHK when creating SigmaUSD. This research hoped to lay a foundation upon which a new era of digital finance could be built. 

SigmaUSD.io is the world's first UTXO-based stable coin - an instantiation of the AgeUSD protocol (now [Djed](https://iohk.io/en/blog/posts/2021/08/18/djed-implementing-algorithmic-stablecoins-for-proven-price-stability/)). Its economic model maintains the conservative settings for collateral reserves and avoids the need for liquidations. Along with that, it supports a fully decentralised stablecoin emission setup. Thus, SigmaUSD offers the world a stable, simple, and decentralised stablecoin. From the SigmaUSD launch on Ergo, Cardano was able to learn from the design in real-world scenarios. The resulting changes from SigmaUSD v2 are bundled into the Djed protocol that will be implemented on the Cardano blockchain.

# ErgoDEX

ErgoDEX is a non-custodial, decentralised exchange that allows a quick, effortless and secure transfer of liquidity between the Ergo and Cardano networks. The eUTXO model gives the unique possibility to have shared liquidity between AMM and Order Book, performing both instant swaps and limit orders from the same liquidity pool. It even enables these features across other UTXO chains!

To make ErgoDEX a safe garden for Initial Coin Offerings (ICO), buy-back orders and partial-filling support will provide extra safety measures for investors. NIPoPoWs and/or ErgoMixer integration with ErgoDEX will help make it a cross-chain and privacy-enhanced decentralized exchange.

# Background

Alexander Chepurnoy (aka Kushti) is a core developer of Ergo Platform and he has been active in blockchain development and smart contracts since 2011. He was a core developer for NXT (first pure PoS), started smartcontract.com (now Chainlink) in 2014 with Sergey Nazarov, and is an IOHK researcher with over 20 academic papers to his name. When working on NXT, he started an ‘utterly simple blockchain framework,’ ScoreX. This project was used to build real-work blockchains like Waves and garnered the attention of Charles Hoskinson, Cardano and Ethereum co-founder.

Using the knowledge he amassed across these projects, Alex shifted his focus from IOHK and Cardano to designing a truly fair PoW that would be uniquely useful as contractual money. Read [The Ergo Manifesto](https://ergoplatform.org/blog/2021-04-26-the-ergo-manifesto/) for more information.

The UTXO Alliance

 We're pleased to announce that the ErgoDEX team have launched their first beta!

To access the beta, you’ll need to follow the steps below and install Yoroi Nightly, the dApp connector - and get your hands on some test tokens. 

The ErgoDEX Team has put function first for this initial beta. However, there is a beautiful interface already designed which is being implemented - stay tuned!

### dApp Connector

To interact with the ErgoDEX Beta UI you will need to install the following two extensions which are available on either Google Chrome, Brave or Sidekick. The Chrome versions can be found below;

### Next Steps

Once there has been some testing with the existing native tokens outlined above, the tokens from SigmaUSD (SigUSD/SigRSV) can be added -- freeing them from the constraints and limitations of their existing contract.
